Documentation (manual) feedback / gaps

Post by RadekPilich »

Short description of the issue:
Insufficient documentation leading to issues in practice.

Nome generation (I or II) and Firmware version:
Nome II, v5.2

More info:

1. The manual doesn't explain (at all?) what exactly does "re-sync" mean and do. It should be added in my opinion.

2. There should be a warning / recommendation to disable / forbid the use of the Nome audio device in Windows audio devices list. It was causing issues (breaking audio playback) before I did so.

Thanks for the feedback.

1. Do you mean what happens when holding down one of the play buttons? How would you explain it?

2. Are you speaking about the "do-not-use" audio interface? As the name implies, it should not be used :)

1. Well, I couldn't figure out from the manual what does re-sync actually mean. It's not obvious standard terminology. It doesn't make intuitive sense to me in the DAW context (it should be synced all the time, no?) nor in the DAWLESS context (there is nothing to sync to).

2. Yes, the "do-not-use" device. I was not actively using it, nor did Windows default it or something like that. But every time I have physically disconnected and reconnected the Nome, it somehow broke the ongoing audio playback. I've figured out that switching the active preset in Sonarworks SoundID restores the playback. I have no good hypothesis of what was happening, as there is quite a lot going on my computer both in the audio and midi infrastructure. Forbidding the user id the device made the issue disappear.
