Hi
I am trying to use pre-midi vintage organs and synths with arpeggiators to establish tempo in the Nome ll to then act as master clock to control tempo in Pro Tools.
My assumption was that the very even 8th or 16th notes with no velocity variation would have been staccato and uniform enough for the Nome to read, but the Nome tempo is changing wildly.
Any similar experiences, fixes or advice, please?
ps… I have my ppq set correctly according to the arpeggiator content, 4 ppq for 16th’s etc
I’ve tried 24 ppq but that just creates a very fast quadrupled tempo that also hiccups often.
And my input level is healthy.

Re: Syncing Nome ll to Arpeggiators
Hi
As explained over email, the Nome needs regular audio pulses, and ideally "sharp" sounds to sync to. But from what you write here, it seems that the machines do send regular audio (for example even 8th notes)? If that's the case, it should be possible for the Nome to sync to it, it's probably just a matter a finding the "right" volume", and maybe finding a slightly sharper sound (at least to start with). The right volume might not be the "highest", it should be loud enough for the Nome to detect the pulses, but if it is too loud, one sound might trigger the Nome multiple times making it believe the tempo is higher than it should. This will be improved with the Tempo Following feature coming in FW 6.0.
Of course the Nome's inP setting must be set correctly ("2P" for 8th notes, "4P" for 16th notes, etc.), but I believe you got this right already.
