Is it ok to connect a TS cable from the audio interface to the old midronome? I've seen in the manual that is actually a TRS connection. I don't know why I thought that it's a TS connection and I've used a TS cable. The thing is that after a few minutes I feel that the sounds gets degraded from my audio interface. It loses resolution and clarity. It gets back to normal gradually after removing the cable. I've been using the midronome with a power adapter and I was wondering if I might damage my audio interface by shorting the ring input connection of the midronome and introducing some rogue voltages.

Yes the plug is a TRS. It can either be stereo (for headphones) or can be balanced mono (for sending to a line input, like the one on your audio interface).

If you are connecting to your audio interface and not a pair of headphones just make sure the little switch next to it is set to "balanced line output" (i.e. the little speaker icon). Then it should not matter if you are using a TS or TRS cable. With a TRS cable you would get a balanced connection, so a signal about 6dB louder and more immunity to noise if the cable is long (anything below 6m you probably would not hear any difference).
